Breaking News: Late Dimgba's Family Rejects OUK's 3 Million Naira

Family members of  late Dimgba Igwe have rejected the sum of 3 million Naira offered to them by the publisher of Sun Newspapers Orji Uzor Kalu. 

Dimgba Igwe was buried last weekend in Igbere amidst tension as kalu who was booed by the youths is linked to the late editor, having had a shouting match with the veteran journalist on the eve of his controversial death.

Southeastonlinenews reporter who covered the event was told by a family member that the three million was rejected based on the fact that the money is not even up to the eight months salary being owed Dimgba. The three million is it for the training of Dimgba's children or the salary arrears, Kalu should keep his money we don't need it, the family members queried.

Igbere, Hometown of Former Governor of Abia State in Serious Mourning Mood

The entire Igbere the home town of former Abia governor Orji Uzor Kalu is in a serious mourning mood, occasioned by the mysterious killing of their illustrious son Dimgba Igwe over the weekend. Our reporter who is in community monitoring the situation said that the atmosphere is charged and tension has enveloped the place as the kinsmen of the late SUN pioneer editor are worried over the circumstances surrounding Dimgba's death.

A clergyman with an Anglican communion in the area Rev Charles Ukeh who spoke on the issue said that their son Uzor Kalu has a case to answer as far as this issue is concerned.

Some weeks ago we buried five people from this community killed by his convoy, he didn't come now we are hearing that he has a hand in Igwes death the clergyman said. How can he threaten to deal with Dimgba simply because the columnist was defending the workers being owed salaries for 8 months he retorted.

A traditional ruler from the area who pleaded anonymity said that kalu has become associated with shedding blood , sometime ago one girl died in his house in US he said. The traditional ruler said that kalu must be made to swear before the burial of Dimgba for him to be exonerated. Many who spoke hinted that Dimgba who was sacked by Kalu earlier, made a mistake by going back to work in Sun again

When our reporter visited the family house of the late editor , it was under lock and key as nobody was around to speak with him

*****Breaking News: Ex Abia Governor fingered over Dimgba Igwe's mysterious death ****

Dimgba Igwe a renowned Journalist and one of the pioneer Editors of the Sun Newspaper is dead.

Dimgba Igwe we learnt was killed by a hit and run car in what appears to be an assassination while jogging this morning around his residence in Okota area of Lagos where he lives.

The Newspaper columnist who worked with defunct Concord and later became the pioneer Editor of the Sun Newspapers with Mike Awoyinfa was sacked by Orji Uzor Kalu few years ago over his stand against Kalu's interference in the paper.

Mr Igwe and Awoyinfa floated a paper that didn't survive as Kalu pleaded with him to come back. Igwe who is from Igbere accepted partially to maintain his column, he was later made the Vice chairman editorial board of the Sun but that did not change his principle as he continued to challenge Kalu's unprofessional style of running the Sun Newspapers

We gathered that Mr. Dimgba Igwe who is popular with the entire work force has become a thorn In Ouks flesh as he confronted the publisher over the 8 months salary he is owing them. A staff of the SUN told us that Dimgba had a shouting match with kalu few days ago on the salary issue. Igwe told kalu to bury his face in shame as he can't pay them. It was learnt that kalu who was visibly shaken swore to deal with Igwe.

However, according to an insider report, accusing fingers are being pointed at kalu for Igwe's mysterious death. As at the time of writing this report, some SUN NEWSPAPERS Staff have deserted the Kirikiri area office of the Sun Newspapers.

The Publisher of the SUN, Kalu yet to visit the family, he is said to have been in Lagos. Every phone contact made to get him to comment on the death of Mr. Dimgba were unsuccessful.
