… Bulkachuwa Also Sworn-in As Acting President, Court Of Appeal
The controversy surrounding the nomination and swearing-in of Justice Ifeoma Jombo-Ofo was Friday laid to rest with her swearing-in as a Justice of the Court of Appeal by the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Aloma Mukthar.
The ceremony was done in Chamber Friday.
The CJN had refused to swear her in due to issues surrounding her state of origin. Jombo Ofo is from Anambra State by birth but claims Abia State as her state of origin courtesy of her marriage to an indigene of the state. The slot she filled in the Court of Appeal was meant for an indigene of Abia State.
Also on Friday, the CJN swore-in Justice Zainab A. Bulkachuwa as the Acting President of the Court of Appeal, making her the first female to occupy the position.
Justice Bulkachuwa replaced Justice Dalhatu Adamu whose tenure as Acting President of the court expired today.
