The House also warned that any contractor that did poor job in the area would be blacklisted.
According to Tobby Okechukwu, leader of the House's Team Road, which is on a tour of road projects in Abia State, the South East which finds it difficult to get government's attention cannot afford to have poor jobs on awarded road contracts captured in 2012 budget.
Okechukwu was shocked at the level of devastation at Ovim-Uturu road which leads to Abia State University.
Though the road was not among the ones scheduled for inspection by the team, the team was attracted by the gully created by erosion which has completely cut the busy road into two.
Both the chairman of the team, Okechukwu and a member, Badamasi Ayuba, described the gully as unimaginable.
According to Okechukwu, "this is utter devastation. Our people are environmentally challenged.
"When we say we have challenge, it is not a joke, it is real. We have seen one of it on Ovim-ABSU road. For me it is unimaginable.
"The level of erosion, flooding here is a huge challenge. If nothing is done urgently, the whole community will be under threat."
He called for competent contractors to handle the reclaiming of the area which has almost been washed away by erosion.
