The PPA's chairman is livid that the former Abia governor is considering running for President
The chairman of the Progressive
Peoples Alliance (PPA), Ken Gbalokoma, has urged the EFCC to live up to
its responsibilities by ensuring that former Abia State governor, Orji
Uzor Kalu, is sent to jail.Gbalokoma said shortly after arriving in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital on Thursday, that the lacklustre prosecution of Kalu by the EFCC had given him the guts to throw his hat in the presidential contest.
“If the EFCC had put him through diligent trial, Orji Uzor Kalu should have been in jail by now rather than on the soap box canvassing for votes,” he noted.
The PPA National Chairman said it was sad that Kalu was taking Nigerians for granted by seeking to occupy the highest office in the land, despite the fact that he knows “he has tainted credentials.”
He said despite plunging Abia State into a N27.3 billion debt, the former governor is currently seeking to be placed on special monthly income from the state treasury.
He appealed to the Chief Justice of the Federation to prevail on his members in the Abuja high courts trying Kalu to expedite the trial so that the former governor would “be sent to jail where he truly belongs to save the nation from further embarrassment.”
He urged Nigerians to disregard Kalu who he described as a”spare parts mentality politician”, assuring that there was no space in the PPA to provide a platform for the maverick politician.
